Nutrients in, Nutrients Out (NINO)

Calories In, Calories Out (CICO) is effective, it works well for weight management. Mathematically, the calories constraint in CICO can be written as:

$ \displaystyle\sum_{n=1} ^{N} C_{n} Q_{n} \le C_{day} $

FDA publishes daily RDIs for a variety of macro and micronutrients besides calories. I prefer Nutrients In, Nutrients Out (NINO) for overall wellbeing. The CICO constraint programming problem can be revised as follows for NINO:

$ \displaystyle\sum_{i=1} ^{K} N_{i,j} Q_{i} [\le | \ge] N_{j,day} \forall j \in [FDA] $
